Joan Schulte

Joan is a native Kentuckian, and current resident of the historic Butchertown area of Louisville. She grew up in the suburbs, but over the course of a lifetime, has migrated to an area that is rich with the history of Louisville and the Ohio River. She is a collector by nature, and has a passion for all things historic.
Her photographs represent her connection to her surroundings and her efforts to seek out beauty in the unlikeliest of places. She transfers her photographs onto found or reclaimed materials using a water-slide process. This process gives an aged, unique quality to each piece that she creates.
